I. Transgender & Intersex Websites
“What does ISNA recommend for children with intersex?” Intersex Society of North America. (now called Accord Alliance) – although aligned with GLB activists, the ISNA is critical of the early Johns Hopkins model which proposed reassignment surgery, and therefore is in agreement with McHugh; surprisingly, since they align themselves with GLB activists, their mission statements indicate some common grounds with a Catholic position, e.g., their position that intersex children (those born with “non-typical” reproductive anatomy) should not be assigned a third gender, their opposition to early reassignment surgery, their disagreement that gender is determined exclusively by nurture, their insistence on treating the patient ethically and with respect, and not as an object for experiment or theoretical debate.
