In response to Pope Francis’s powerful encyclical Laudato Si’, Catholic Voices groups across the world are calling for ideas and suggestions to absorb its lessons and put it into practice in our lives — as individuals, as members of church communities, and as citizens. Our call coincides with one being made today at the Vatican by a coalition of Catholic social justice groups.

VANCOUVER, September 29, 2014 – Pope Francis is calling bishops from around the world together to talk about pastoral challenges to Catholic families. Discussions will undoubtedly include hot button issues such as contraception, same-sex marriage and divorce. This meeting, called an Extraordinary Synod, is taking place in Rome from October 5 to 19. In addition to 190 bishops from all over the world, the pope has invited 38 non-clergy experts, including 14 married couples.
